Rosebank Methodist Church, Cape Town

oude_molen_planting_1The A Rocha Community Conservation Group at the Rosebank Methodist Church in Cape Town was launched in 2007 and over the years they have been creating awareness by leading worship services focusing on environment, arranging appropriate Sunday school programmes and by producing pew leaflets on topics such as energy saving and recycling.

A major event is their annual sustainable supper. The purpose of the supper is to raise awareness around the impact of our food choices; to create space for fellowship within the congregation and with those working for the environment; to raise funds for the ongoing work of the creation care groups. In deciding on a menu various factors were considered: Is it local and seasonal, organic and preservative free; ┬áMeat-Free and raw. All cooking was during off-peak time and ‘finished off’ in wonderbags.
